DOS & DON’TS FOR CRACKER MARKET
▪ FIRE EXTINGUISHERS Cracker shops with tin roofing and walls have come up at Rastogi Inter College. Every shop is required to keep six fire extinguisher cylinders and a drum containing 200 litres of water outside. The shopkepeers should also keep eight sand bags in front of their establishment, as per the directives issued by the DM.
▪ NO ENTRY WITH MATCHBOX “No one would be allowed to walk into the market with a match stick,” said Kaushalraj Sharma, district magistrate.
▪ FIRE-PROOF WIRES All power connections to these tin shops have been provided with fire proof wires after no-objection certificates from the directorate of power safety office, he said. ▪ PARKING OUTSIDE PREMISES No vehicle will be allowed inside the market. Vehicles will be kept at the parking space outside the market.
ONLY LICENSED TRADERS
Only licensed traders will be allowed to sell permitted firecrackers and there’s a ban on the use of barium salt in fireworks for its harmful effect on the environment. Crackers containing Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organisation (PESO) approved chemical salt will be allowed to be sold.
TIMINGS
On Diwali or on any other festival like Guruparv, fireworks will be allowed between 8pm and 10pm only.
On Christmas and New Year’s eve, fireworks may start from 11:55pm till 12:30am’, the guideline further reads.
