UP STF ARRESTS SEVEN FOR ARRANGING EXAM ‘SOLVERS’
GHAZIABAD: The Noida unit of Uttar Pradesh special task force (UP STF), late Thursday night, arrested seven persons who allegedly roped in ‘solvers’ to appear in place of candidates for the different online examinations.
The STF arrested the seven men in connection with a goof up during the ongoing railway recruitment board (RRB) grade ‘D’ examination, officials said.
The seven accused were identified as Sumit Kumar, who is employed as a trackman with railways, his friends Sanjeet Dahiya, who studied at Delhi University, Vikrant Kumar and Naveen Malik.
Apart from the main accused, the STF also arrested Subodh Kumar, Gajendra Kumar and Sunny Kumar, who were roped in as ‘solvers’ and allegedly appeared in place of actual candidates.
“The three ‘solvers’ are from Nalanda in Bihar and were roped in by the four accused to appear at the ongoing online examination of the RRB. The railway authorities had approached us and requested us to keep track of people who get money from candidates and arrange solvers. Solvers are generally paid ₹30,000-60,000 per appearance in the exams,” RK Mishra, deputy superintendent of police (STF), said.
The police said that the four prime accused have known each other for the past three or four years. “Sanjeet has been involved in this activity since 2011-12 and charged ₹2-6 lakh from candidates who wanted someone else to appear in their place. Naveen Malik also operated a similar lab in Chandigarh and knows the tricks of the trade. Later he closed down the lab and joined hands with Sanjeet,” Mishra added.
