Akhilesh assures candidates of support

LUCKNOW: A day after the police beat up protesting teachers’ candidates outside the Vidhan Sabha, a delegation met Samajwadi Party national president Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday and requested him to address their grievances.

Condemning the police lathi charge on BTC trainee/teachers candidates Yadav said, “The Bharatiya Janta Party is playing with the future of these candidates. Samajwadi party will always fight for the just cause of the protesters.”

Yadav assured them that his party will continue to fight in the interest of the candidates. “The BJP government has not given a single job to anyone. Instead, the job seekers got beaten by sticks and canes.” He further lamented that several lakh youths in the state are in the grip of poverty as there are no jobs for them.

The protesters had gathered outside the Vidhan Bhawan on Friday after the High Court directed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to probe the alleged anomalies in recruitment of 68,500 assistant teachers in primary schools of the state.

These candidates came out on the streets to register their protest as they believed it was government’s negligence that led to this situation and that no corrective measure was taken on time. Police resorted to lathi charge on the unarmed candidates during which around a doen of them sustained serious injuries.
