NOIDA: Officials from the Greater Noida authority and district administration held a meeting on Saturday to ensure that all timelines for the Noida International Greenfield Airport, being built in Jewar, are strictly adhered to.
It has been decided that the survey and valuation of all property to be acquired for the airport has to be completed within the next 15 days. The administration has designated seven teams in six villages of Jewar that will start working at the earliest.
“The meeting was to ensure that all work is completed in a timely manner. While there are obstacles and we have fixed realistic targets, we hope to meet our deadlines and finish work before time,” BN Singh, district magistrate, said.
The administration aims to clear all issues related to land acquisition, identification and measurements of land, objections, payments for the acquired land, settlements and get all approvals by early next year. Officials said that all processes related to land will be cleared by March-April 2019.
Earlier this week, UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath had said that the Prime Minister may lay the foundation stone of the project in December this year.
In the first phase, the Uttar Pradesh government will acquire land from six villages including Rohi, Parohi, Banwari Bas, Ramner, Dayanatpur and Ranhera. The administration has already secured the consent of more than 70% farmers for acquiring land for the project.
The civil aviation department will go through the bidding agreement and present it before the project monitoring and implementation committee, which will hand it over to state cabinet for final approval. The estimated budget for the airport project is ₹15,000-₹20,000 crore.
Member of Parliament from Jewar, Dhirendra Singh, said that he met with the CM earlier this week and asked for the process to be expedited.
“Our estimate is that the project will begin by February, before the code of conduct is implemented. Once the election process begins, the project will be delayed and will be a setback for the local economy. We don’t want that as this airport is very important for the region and the development of the people,” Singh said.
The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (Yeida) wants to connect the upcoming airport at Jewar with Delhi and the NCR through a Metro, a road link and a highspeed Metro. The Yeida has already roped in the national capital region transport corporation (NCRTC) to conduct a feasibility study into the proposed project of a high-speed Metro between the Jewar Airport and the Indira Gandhi International Airport. The NCRTC is also working on high-speed Metro projects between Delhi and Meerut.
