7 persons arrested for fake call centre and job fraud racket

NOIDA: Seven persons were arrested for running a fake call centre under the pretext of a job agency and duping youngsters of lakhs, in Noida Sector 10 on Friday night.

Akshay Tripathi, of Ghazipur, Sandeep, of Badaun, Ankit Srivastava, of Gandhinaga­r in Delhi, Tanuj Kumar, of Pratapgarh, Suraj Kumar, Sitamarhi in Bihar, Deepak Kumar, of Malviya Nagar in Delhi and Kunal Kohli, of New Ashok Nagar in Delhi were arrested in the raid.

According to the police, the accused were running an illegal call centre, where they claimed to be a job agency and attracted people looking for jobs.

They used to charge each customer around ₹5,000 as a ‘fee’.

“The accused used to charge registrati­on fees from gullible people claiming they are a job agency, and that they could connect their customers to companies looking for candidates.

They had also prepared fake documents to show as genuine stamp papers of their so-called job agency.

They also had several fake bank accounts and asked their customers to deposit money in them,” Hansraj Bhadoriya, station house officer, Expressway police station, said.

The police also recovered 14 mobile phones, two laptops, seven wireless phones, three register copies, 15 new sim cards, a stamp letter pad, and visiting cards. “We have booked the accused persons under Indian Penal Code sections 420, 467, 468, 472 and 406 for fraud, forgery of valuable security, forgery for the purpose of cheating, making or possession of counterfei­t seal and criminal breach of trust along with Section 66 of the IT Act. They have all been produced before the magistrate and sent to jail,” Bhadoriya said.
