LUCKNOW:Fed up with the ‘anarchy’ of UP road transport buses, which are parked haphazardly all over Alambagh, especially in front of grain depot, Tehripulia, Adarsh Nagar, Patel Nagar and Barha Railway Colony, mayor Sanyukta Bhatia has written to transport minister Swatantra Dev Singh to get these buses parked inside the Alambagh and Charbagh bus stations.

The details of all the contracted buses, which are parked outside bus stations just to avoid parking charges, were provided to the transport minister.

The security of military establishment is also compromised because of the buses parked in front of the grain depot of the Army.

At some spots on the road from Patel Nagar to Tehripulia and Alambagh, the buses of a transport company occupy around 80% of the space on the road.

Owner of the transport company is also said to be close to higher officials of the transport department.

Mayor Sanyukta Bhatia said, “The contracted buses have

Till now, it (haphazard parking) was tolerated because the bus station was not fully ready. But now the bus station is fully operational and there is no point parking the buses on the road. SANYUKTA BHATIA, mayor

made it a habit of parking their buses on road. This narrows the road and residents of area had to battle long traffic jams. Besides, there have been several accidents because of the haphazardly parked buses.”

She added, “It’s now up to the transport minister to realise the threats these buses pose to the security of the common people. He should order cancellation the buses which are parked on the road.”

“Till now, it was tolerated because the bus station was not fully ready. But the bus station is fully operational now and there is no point parking the buses on the road. This is affecting the traffic movement and troubling the commuters.”
