VARANASI : Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat arrived in Varanasi on Sunday to attend the six-day meet of prant pracharaks (RSS regional chiefs) that began at an under-construction building of a private school here.

Bhagwat will guide the RSS regional head on various important issues, including formation of a strategy for expansion of the organisation, people familiar with the matter said.

A strategy will be chalked out to connect more youths to the RSS in rural pockets and far-flung areas across the country.

This is the first time that the RSS chief’s visit is coinciding with that of the PM who will arrive in Varanasi.

As many as 250 regional RSS chiefs from 29 states and seven union territories have arrived here to participate the meeting. This is Bhagwat’s second visit to Varanasi in 2018.

He addressed thousands of RSS volunteers at the Sangh Samagam organised at the Sampurnanand Sanskrit University ground on February 20.

A senior RSS functionary said, “Bhagwat will guide the pracharaks on principles which every pracharak must follow in his day to day working, selfless service to the nation and work for the betterment of every section of the society and connect more youths to the RSS.” A shakha will be organised daily at the venue.

According to the RSS functionary, this is an annual meet of the regional pracharaks and Varanasi is the venue this year. The RSS regional pracharaks will share their ideas at the meeting.

The distance between Modi’s rally venue and the under-construction school, where the RSS meeting will be held, is half a kilometre.
