KOLKATA: On a high after two successive away wins, East Bengal will look to begin their home campaign on a rousing note when they face Chennai City in a top-ofthe-table I-League clash here on Tuesday.

Eyeing an elusive I-League title, East Bengal began their campaign with wins against NEROCA and Shillong Lajong. Chennai City, who have played a game more, have beaten Indian Arrows and Gokulam Kerala and were held by Churchill Brothers.

LAHIRI SLIPS

PLAYADELCARMEN(MEXICO): Indian golfer Anirban Lahiri slipped but stayed inside top-10 at the end of the third round of the OHL Mayakoba Classic after 54 holes here on Sunday. Lahiri, who was tiedthird after the second round, shot two-under 69 to be tied-eighth at 13-under.

This was the third year in a row that Lahiri had shot his first three rounds in the 60s and his best here has been tied-14th last year. The year before that he was tied-28th.

Matt Kuchar, looking for his first win since 2014, continued his excellent form with a 65 in the third round after 64-64 on the first two days. He moved to 20-under and a four-shot lead over Kim Whee (66).

IAAF DELAYS RANKINGS

MONACO:The IAAF will continue to use qualifying standards, not a new world rankings system, for the 2019 Doha world championships, athletics’ global governing body said on Sunday.

Feedback from athletes and members of the athletics community led to the decision to delay implementation of the ranking system, the IAAF said.

“We believe strongly that the world rankings is the best way for athletes to qualify for our major championships in future,” IAAF President Sebastian Coe said in Doha of a system the IAAF had earlier adopted.
