Dental college convocation: Degrees, medals awarded to meritorious students
LUCKNOW: The Saraswati Dental College organised its convocation on Wednesday.
As many as 40 gold and silver medals were awarded to meritorious students during the ceremony.
Deputy chief minister Dinesh Sharma was the chief guest while women and child development minister Rita Bahuguna Joshi was the guest of honour at the event.
They called upon students to put in hard work and dedication to succeed and contribute positively to the society.
“My parents are really proud of me. This acknowledgement has encouraged me to work harder and perform better in the future,” said Saloni Verma of 2012-13 batch, who received the ‘Saraswati Ratna’ and a gold medal for her exemplary academic performance.
“I dedicate this award to my teachers and family members,” said Dr Shamita Tiwari, MDS (final year) student (oral surgery) of batch 2015-16 for standing first in MDS professional examination held in 2018.
Tributes were paid to the founder chairman of the institution. The bronze statue of late Lt Col (Dr) TS Mathur was unveiled on his 76th birth anniversary.
Ritu Mathur, director Saraswati Group; Dr Rajat Mathur, president of Saraswati Group of Institutions, and other senior officials of the management were present in the programme.
Principal Dr RS Bedi presented the college report. Medal winners later took selfies with their parents on the college campus. Celebrating 20 years of teaching, the college has also adopted 20 villages and 10 schools for free dental treatment.
