PRAYAGRAJ: : In a gruesome incident, a 10-year-old boy was thrashed and then run over by a tractor by some miscreants in Ghoorpur of the trans-Yamuna area here, just because he objected to the tractor driver speeding the vehicle, which raised a lot of dust.

According to the boy’s friend, who was with him at the time of the incident, the accused then buried the injured and semiconscious Class IV boy under the sand and fled from the spot.

Police officials said the boy’s kin, on getting information of the incident from his friend, dug out the child from the sand and rushed him to SRN Hospital, where he was declared brought dead.

An FIR has been lodged against seven identified and some unidentified people and raids were being carried out to nab the accused, police said.

In his complaint, Makhan Nishad (a labourer) of Baswar village of Ghoorpur alleged that his son, Sameer, 10 and his friend, Tinku, had gone to the fields to relieve themselves.

Meanwhile, a tractor passed by, raising quite a bit of dust. When the boys asked the tractor driver to drive slowly so that the tractor didn’t raise that much dust, it irked the driver and others on the tractor. They allegedly attacked Sameer and later ran the tractor over him.The accused were identified as tractor owner Abhishek Yadav, driver Vijay, Kallu, Varun Singh, Dharmraj Yadav, Raju Singh, Kamlesh and others.

Makhan Nishad said that when his son did not return for a long time, he and other family members searched for him and later came to know of the incident from Tinku, who had fled from the scene and was initially too scared to tell anyone about the incident.

Sameer’s kin and villagers spotted the accused fleeing from the incident spot in a Honda City car.

The kin were shocked when they saw the hands of Sameer visible in the sand.

He was pulled out in an unconscious state and rushed to a nearby hospital, where the doctors referred him to SRN. However, at SRN Hospital the doctors declared him brought dead. SP trans-Yamuna Deependra Chaudhary said an FIR had been lodged and a team had been constituted to nab the accused at the earliest.
