CHAOS AT TWO EXAM CENTRES

-

LUCKNOW : There was chaos at a couple of exam centres in Lucknow during the Teachers’ Eligibility Test (TET) as a number of candidates were not allowed to take the exam either because they were not carrying original documents or they reached the centre late.

Around 64,837 candidates had enrolled for the test in the city. As many as 59,964 wrote the exam while 4,783 students remained absent.

Candidates at ALY Bai Mainpuria Inter College at Budddheshwar crossing alleged that they were not allowed to write the exam despite showing all documents. Here, police had to intervene to defuse the tension between examinees and officials. Candidates who were not allowed to participate in the exam staged a demonstration at Buddheshwar crossing. They alleged that they were supposed to reach the centre with the attested copies of their marksheets and certificates, but when they reached, they were asked to produce original documents. Due to this, many examinees were not allowed to take the exam.

Meanwhile, several candidates missed the exam because they were unable to trace an exam centre – GD Memorial College, which is located in a lane in Para area near Rajajipuram. Here too, examines tried to create ruckus but due to presence of police force they were unable to damage college property. Meanwhile, the UP STF also arrested three people from Varanasi and Bijnor for selling fake questions papers to candidates. SSP, STF, Abhishek Singh said two people, Bharat Singh Yadav and Laxmikant Bharti, were arrested from Varanasi while one Rakesh Kumar Singh was nabbed from Bijnor.

“They were selling question papers for Rs 1 lakh each. Question papers recovered from them were found to be fake. The accused said they were trying to take advantage of the desperation of candidates to clear the test at any cost,” he said.
