In jail for assault, Ex-MLA misbehaves with jail staff too
BAHRAICH: Former SP MLA Dilip Kumar Verma, in jail for thrashing a circle officer and Nanpara Tehsildar, on Sunday reportedly misbehaved with the jail authorities, after he was shifted to the district Jail.
Angered by Verma’s behaviour, jail superintendent VK Shukla shot off a letter to the Bahraich district magistrate Mala Srivastava to shift him elsewhere. Verma was later shifted to Bahraich district hospital from the prison on Monday for which he allegedly again made a ruckus.
Chief medical superintendent DK Singh said that Verma was under observation of Dr Paritosh at the hospital, adding that the former MLA was found to be suffering from typhoid and had hypoglycaemia, and had been referred to KGMU, Lucknow.
The Bahraich DM confirmed that the jail superintendent had written a letter to her requesting that the former MLA be moved to another jail. In his letter, the jail superintendent had complained that Verma has been misbehaving in jail, the DM said.
Three cases were registered against former MLA Dilip Kumar Verma, who is the husband
of sitting BJP MLA from Nanpara, for thrashing circle officer Vijay Prakash and Tehsildar Madhusoodan Arya on November 16. He was arrested on Saturday while he was fleeing to Lucknow.
After being arrested, he threw a fit about having high blood pressure and uneasiness. He was admitted to the district hospital and then shifted to King George Medical University (KGMU) Lucknow but no ailment was found. He was produced before the judicial magistrate on Sunday and the magistrate had sent him to 14 days judicial custody.
