LU’s foundation day: Lalji Tandon to get lifetime achievement award
LUCKNOW: The University of Lucknow would celebrate its foundation day on November 25. On the occasion, the varsity would confer three lifetime achievement awards and seven distinguished alumni awards to its illustrious alumni.
Senior BJP leader and governor of Bihar Lalji Tandon tops the list of illustrious alumni and would be given the lifetime achievement award.
NK Pandey, spokesperson of LU, said, “Tandon has held prestigious posts like minister of state, department of power, urban development and water supply, urban development and urban poverty alleviation, housing, finance, urban development and tourism in the Government of Uttar Pradesh.”
“Besides, he has been a member of UP Legislative Assembly for three terms and Legislative Council for two terms. He has also been Leader of House of the Council. Indeed, he is one of the most deserving alumni,” he added.
Dr Ammar Rizvi of the Indian National Congress stands next in the list, followed by Justice HN Tilhari, eminent jurist who has served at Allahabad High Court from 1992-2001.
Besides, the university will be giving distinguished alumni awards to Dr Deepak Kumar Agarwal, Mudit Kumar Singh and Rajeshwar Tiwari.
Dr Deepak Kumar Agarwal is director and senior consultant gastroenterologist, hepatologist and endoscopist at Globe Medicare, Lucknow and also the president of Gastrocare Medical Research Foundation, Lucknow.
Mudit Kumar Singh, 1984batch IFS officer, is presently a principal chief conservator of forests and head of forest force and MD, Chhattisgarh State Minor Forest (Trading and Development) Cooperative Federation.
Rajeshwar Tiwari, an IAS officer, is currently holding the post of special chief secretary, Revenue Department, Government of Telangana, with additional responsibility of chief commissioner of Land Administration and chairman, RERA.
Pandey said the felicitation would be carried out at a grand function to be held on Sunday and would start from 5pm onwards on the LU campus.
