Convincing wins mark Sharma hockey

LUCKNOW: Convincing wins marked the opening day of the 12th Pt JL Sharma Under-14 State Hockey Tournament, at the KD Singh ‘Babu’ Stadium here on Thursday with all winners making it to the quarterfin­als. Meerut defeated Pratapgarh 2-0, Atgawan beat Gazipur 3-0, Gorakhpur beat Muzzafarna­gar 4-0, Atgawan beat Prayagraj 8-0 and Kaushambi defeated Pilibhit 4-1.

SELECTION

Trials to pick district men and women volleyball teams will be held on November 28, at the Lucknow University ground here at 1.00 p.m.

SYMPOSIUM

The two-day symposium for table tennis’ technical officials of the state begins at the Integral University here on Friday. Internatio­nal referee Atul Dubey will be the main resource person.

NCC TRIUMPH

National Cricket Club won the Indo-Nepal T-20 Cricket Series, defeating Nepal teams 2-1, at the Mulpani Ground in Nepal. In the final match in the senior category, NCC defeated NCA Nepal by 74 runs. In the junior category final too, they defeated NCA Nepal by eight wickets. Rajveer Singh, Avishkar Singh Parmar, Aroma Tyagi, Vijay Chauhan, Krishna Tripathi, Ramdhyan, Bilal Khan, UjjwalShuk­la, Rittik Prabhakar, Sohail Khan, Rishu Singh, Aroma Tyagi and Bipisha Sahi were given special awards.

SAURABH SHINES

Saurabh Kashyap took 6/9 as North Eastern Railway crushed Rudransh Cricket Club by 48 runs in an A division match, at the LDA Stadium here on Thursday. NER scored 153/9 in 40 overs while batting first after winning the toss. Ashwani Mandhani and Prashant Awasthi scored 41 and 32, respective­ly. For RCC, Raghvendra took 4/35. In reply, RCC batsmen never found the going easy as Saurabh created a web around them, skittling out the rivals at 105 in 28 overs.

BIG WIN

BSNV Inter College scored a 10-wicket win against LMC to make it to the final of the 15th Col SN Mishra Memorial Inter-Collegiate Cricket Tournament here on Thursday. In other semi-final of the day, St Joseph School beat Ma Vindhyavas­ini Inter College by 43 runs.

LVCA MEETING

KM Khan was on Thursday elected president of the Lucknow Veterans Cricket Associatio­n. Capt Balram Singh was named secretary for the year 2018-19.
