Expedite opening of 46 new govt colleges: CS
LUCKNOW: Chief secretary Anup Chandra Pandey has directed for quick implementation of the decision to open 46 new government colleges in the state for providing higher education to students.
He has also directed officials to sanction the proposal of five years’ special leave, apart from extra leave, for the teachers. Pandey gave these directives during a meeting with the senior officials of the higher education department at Lok Bhawan here.
He also said 28 teaching and non-teaching posts had been created for setting up Mahayogi Guru Shri Gorakhnath Shodh Peeth at Deen Dayal Upadhyay University, Gorapkhpur. The appointment will be done as per rules. He also said the DAV College, Kanpur, where former PM AB Vajpayee studied, would be made into a Centre of Excellence named after the late leader. A sum of ₹5 crore had been sanctioned for the project, he added.
The chief secretary has directed that necessary action be taken to declare all the examination results of all the state universities by June 25, 2019 as per the new academic calendar fixed at the government level for the first time. He has also directed to start the new session from July 10.
He ordered officials to ensure appropriate action as per the rules for developing Siddharth University in Siddharth Nagar as an International Budddhist Centre. He has also directed to give an impetus to the work of including ancient and foreign languages in the international Buddhish Centres. He said the work to set up Pt Deen Dayal Upadhyay chair in 15 state universities will be expedited.
It will engage in research work related to Pt Deen Dayal Upadhyay’s character, works and philosophy. He said in order to give boost to research work, Lucknow University will get a chair in the name of Bhaurao Deoras.
Additional chief secretary Anita Bhatnagar Jain said 16 state universities, an open university, a deemed university, 27 private universities, 158 government colleges, 331 non-government colleges on grants list and 6,192 self-finance colleges were running in the state. She also said a budgetary allocation of ₹3847.0889 crore had been made, including the first supplementary grant for the financial year 2018-19.
She said special efforts were made in October/November for sanctioning ₹1043.77 crore for the teachers working in unaided colleges and government graduate/ postgraduate colleges, on the basis of the recommendations of the Seventh Pay Commission and the benefits of other allowances were also included in it.
