Arshia, Abhijeet hog limelight
LUCKNOW: Unseeded Arshia Ahmed continued her good run in the girls under-16 category of the RS Sagar Memorial ASITA Talent Series here on Thursday, shocking second seeded Eram Zaidi 6-4, 6-0 in straight sets, at the SDS Academy.
With 4-4 all in the first set, Arshia raised her play and went on winning the remaining two to claim the first set. But in the second set, she didn’t allow Eram even to win a single game and won the set and match too in style. Now in final, she plays Yati Bisen, who came from behind to beat Sasa Katiyar 4-6, 6-3 and 6-0.
In the boys under-16 too, fifth seed Abhijeet Singh knocked down top seeded Aaron Samuel 6-3, 6-2 to set up a final clash with Daksh Singh who put an end to Anshuman Singh’s good run.
In the boys U-14 event Anshuman Singh’s dream run come to an end when after winning the first set in a tie-break, he lost the next two 4-6, 1-6 to allow Arjun Sharma enter final where he will play Shouya Singh, who defeated Lakshya Tikoo. On Friday, the finals start at 10.00 a.m. RESULTS
