1000 sportspers­ons to take part in ‘Pinnacle 2018’

LUCKNOW : Over 1000 sportspers­ons belonging to 20 schools across the country of Seth MR Jaipuria School would be seen in action in sporting extravagan­za ‘Pinnacle 2018’ on Saturday, at the 35th Battalion, PAC Stadium here.

Former hockey captain Dhanraj Pillay and ace shooter of his time Jaspal Rana would also be seen encouragin­g the sports persons from the pavilion as special guests.

Kanak Gupta, vice president of Jaipuria on Thursday said that the sports meet would see track and field events, cricket, basketball, badminton, tabletenni­s etc.

“We are very excited about bringing all our schools on one platform for celebratin­g sporting achievemen­ts of our little champions,” he said.

POSTEL WRESTLING

Defending champions Haryana continued to dominate in the 32nd All-India Postal Championsh­ip here on Thursday, winning two gold medals.

Hosts Uttar Pradesh had two silver and a bronze medals.

Karmpal and Prateek Pandey won gold medals for Haryana, whereas Shyam Muni and Satish Kumar bagged silver medals for UP. Bhupendra bagged a bronze in 125 kg category.

WASI SHINES

Wasi took 5/7 as Lucknow Cricketers defeated Kalyanpur Strikers by seven wickets in a league match of the BB Gupta Memorial Cricket Tournament here on Thursday. Besides Wasi, Neeraj Singh took 3/11 as Kalyanpur Strikers collapsed for paltry 98 in 29.3 overs.

In reply, Lucknow Cricketers romped home in 15.5 overs. In other match of the day, Paarth Cricket Club beat National Youngster Club by 42 runs.

Chandresh Kumar (4/4), Dharmendra Yadav (3/9) and Navneet Yadav (2/18) bowled well as Akhil Infra Cricket Club defeated Raj Garden Club by six wickets in an A division cricket league, at the LDA Stadium here.
