‘Bolti Ramayan’: Mini radio with epic rendition

LUCKNOW : A pocket size radio aptly named ‘Bolti Ramayan’ is a big draw for visitors at Lucknow Mahotsav in Smriti Upvan. The radio contains all seven chapters of the epic in musical form.

This radio not only has 59 prerecorde­d chapters of the Ramayan but also 102 other contents that include Bhagwat Gita, Gayatri Mantra and ‘Aartis’ of all Hindu deities and festivals. All of these are also in musical form.

The device comes with rechargeab­le batteries and a charger. It can play continuous­ly for 21 hours.

Faridabad-based singer Ajay Kumar Mundhra has lent his voice to the compositio­ns in this radio, which has been developed by Kolkata-based Prayas Institute.

The radio has also been registered in the Limca Book of World Records for musical recitation of Ramayan.

“Initially the radio had only Ramayan. After an overwhelmi­ng response we added 102 other contents including Bhagwat Gita, Gayatri Mantra and ‘Aartis’,” Maheshwari said.
