2nd deadline lapses, 40% Kumbh work still remains
DEVELOPMENT WORKS Several roads still in a bad shape while work of redesigning traffic intersections is also far from complete
PRAYAGRAJ: Despite lapse of second deadline for completion of development works in the Sangam city for Kumbh 2019, roughly 40% works were still pending, said officials.
The first deadline was October 31 but was extended to November 30 by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath during his visit to Prayagraj last monthfor reviewing the preparations.
“Officials entrusted with the task are trying their best to complete the work at the earliest. Every development work has its own problems that the staff is trying to solve,” divisional commissioner Ashish Goel said.
Several roads in the city continue to be in a bad shape while work of redesigning traffic intersections has also remained incomplete.
Out of the total 32 traffic crossing which were to be remodelled and beautified, work on not even a single crossing has been completed while construction of roads is also half done, said an administrative official on condition of anonymity.
In his recent visit to the city, chief secretary Anup Pandey had asked officials to complete work by December 15 failing which stern action would be initiated against the authorities concerned.
Besides, road digging for laying of underground sewer pipeline is also incomplete, the last date of which was May 30.
