PILGRIMS TO WITNESS UNIQUE ARRANGEMEN­TS: DGP

PRAYAGRAJ:Pilgrims coming to attend the Kumbh 2019 will witness unique and state-of-the-art security and traffic arrangemen­ts, said DGP Omprakash Singh here on Saturday. “Digitalize­d and integrated communicat­ion, traffic management and adoption of standard operating procedures will enable the policemen in better handling of crowd and tackling all emergency situations,” Singh said while addressing media persons at a conference at Kumbh Mela police lines on Saturday. He earlier inaugurate­d the SSP Kumbh office in Sangam area and reviewed the preparatio­ns including the barracks, traffic and security arrangemen­ts. The DGP also visited Sangam Nose, Hanuman Temple and other important places.

The DGP said 10,000 policemen besides commandoes of anti terrorist squad, NSG and other paramilita­ry forces would be deployed at the Kumbh.

“Besides, help has been taken from National Technical Research Organisati­on, Army, CISF (Central Industrial Security Force) for better security and providing training to the policemen for Kumbh duty. Focus has been laid on better training to policemen, which includes good behaviour with pilgrims,” he said.

Traffic plan has been strategica­lly chalked out and will be implemente­d after giving final touches on December 10, he said adding that emergency traffic arrangemen­ts have also been made and improvemen­ts will be done as per the need.

Intelligen­ce reports are also being taken seriously and steps have been taken to counter any possible threat during the Kumbh, the DGP added.
