PILGRIMS TO WITNESS UNIQUE ARRANGEMENTS: DGP
PRAYAGRAJ:Pilgrims coming to attend the Kumbh 2019 will witness unique and state-of-the-art security and traffic arrangements, said DGP Omprakash Singh here on Saturday. “Digitalized and integrated communication, traffic management and adoption of standard operating procedures will enable the policemen in better handling of crowd and tackling all emergency situations,” Singh said while addressing media persons at a conference at Kumbh Mela police lines on Saturday. He earlier inaugurated the SSP Kumbh office in Sangam area and reviewed the preparations including the barracks, traffic and security arrangements. The DGP also visited Sangam Nose, Hanuman Temple and other important places.
The DGP said 10,000 policemen besides commandoes of anti terrorist squad, NSG and other paramilitary forces would be deployed at the Kumbh.
“Besides, help has been taken from National Technical Research Organisation, Army, CISF (Central Industrial Security Force) for better security and providing training to the policemen for Kumbh duty. Focus has been laid on better training to policemen, which includes good behaviour with pilgrims,” he said.
Traffic plan has been strategically chalked out and will be implemented after giving final touches on December 10, he said adding that emergency traffic arrangements have also been made and improvements will be done as per the need.
Intelligence reports are also being taken seriously and steps have been taken to counter any possible threat during the Kumbh, the DGP added.
