HYDERABAD: Hitting back at Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) president Asaduddin Owaisi on Monday said India is his father’s country and that no one can force him flee.

Addressing a poll rally, he said Adityanath was speaking the language of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and that of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). “This is only Yogi’s speech but the language and mentality is of Modi.”

He was reacting to Adityanath’s comments at a rally in pollbound Telangana that he would have to “run away” from Hyderabad, just like the Nizam, if the BJP came to power in the southern state. “The first thing, you (Adityanath) are zero in history... Nizam did not leave Hyderabad and Mir Osman Ali Khan was made the ‘Raj Pramukh’ and when there was a war with China, the same Nizam had given his gold... he did not run away,” he said. He added that if Adityanath was willing, he could go with him to the Nizam’s grave and offer flowers. “But will you come?... You may ask to change the name of the grave also,” Owaisi said, mocking Adityanath’s plans to rename places in Uttar Pradesh.

AIMIM former floor leader in assembly Akbaruddin Owaisi challenged the former to do so, if he had guts. “I am not like Lalit Modi or Vijay Mallya or Nirvav Modi to flee the country. They won’t come back, but I am here to stay. Not only me, but my next 1000 generations also will stay in Hyderabad. I will see who will ask us to get out of Hyderabad,” he said. The BJP has repeatedly attacked the AIMIM and accused it of minority appeasement.
