Ansari praises Yogi government for taking adequate measures to ensure peace in Ayodhya
AYODHYA : Petitioner in the Ram Janmabhoomi–Babri Masjid case Iqbal Ansari on Thursday demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should intervene and ensure daily hearing of the case in Supreme Court to settle the dispute at the earliest.
Ansari, who has received threats asking him to withdraw from the case else be prepared for dire consequences, said he remained committed to early hearing of the case in Supreme Court. “I was never in favour of delay in hearing of the case. In fact, I urge the Prime Minister to intervene and ensure daily hearing for early resolution of the dispute,” Ansari said. Ansari also pointed out that he had given a memorandum to President of India demanding daily hearing of the case in SC.
Commenting on Yaum E Gham and Shaurya Diwas being observed in Ayodhya to mark the 26th anniversary of demolition of Babri Masjid, Ansari said: “I neither approve Yaum E Gham nor Shaurya Diwas. These events are politically motivated.”
On receiving a threat letter, Ansari said: “I received a letter on Wednesday asking me to withdraw from the case else I will be killed. I have informed the police but have not lodged an FIR.” This is the second such letter Ansari has received in the past two month. Surya Prakash Singh, a native of Dadra village, under Musafirkhana tehsil, Amethi district, sent the eight-page letter to Ansari in October last.
Singh, who is self-proclaimed Amethi chief of the Ram Janmabhoomi Mukti Andolan, was arrested later. Siddharth Singh, representative of Zafaryab Jilani, convener of Babri Masjid Action Committee, was also present at the residence of Iqbal Ansari.
“We want day –to-day hearing of the case. Late PM Atal Behari Vajpayee had ensured daily hearing of the case in high court. Now, the Centre must also ensue daily hearing of the case in Supreme Court if it wants to resolve the dispute,” said Singh. Ansari also praised the Yogi government for taking adequate measures to ensure peace in Ayodhya.
