LUCKNOW: A 100-feet-tall Tricolour will be installed at the colonial era Charbagh Railway Station here in the state capital soon. The initiative is a part pan-India drive under which Railways is going to install Indian flags on the premises of its prime stations.

As a part of the drive, Northern Railways is set to install the flag in more than 60 of its railway stations including 12 of Lucknow Division.

“Under the drive we are in the process of setting up Indian flags measuring around 100-feet tall on the premises of the Charbagh Railway station,” said Satish Kumar, divisional railway manager (DRM), Northern Railways (NR) Lucknow.

Kumar said, first such flag in the Lucknow division would be installed at Varanasi station.

“At Varanasi station, the flag would be installed by this month, after which the installation work would start at Charbagh station,” Kumar said.

He said the installation of flags would start at other stations that falls under NR’s Lucknow

division.

Besides installing the flag at the Charbagh Railway Station, other development work is also proposed here.

It largely includes the construction of another identical building as the second entry of the station that is expected to come up by 2020.

Officials with Northern Railways (NR) said the second entry would come up at the backside of the station and would be a boon in shedding off the load from the Charbagh Railway Station.

Officials said, the construction of second entry at the Charbagh Station would be of great help to the people here in the

state capital.

Officials said the second entry point would cater to the needs of the people residing in Anand Nagar, Cantonment, Sadar, Ashiyana, Krishna Nagar, Alambagh and other nearby areas, benefitting a good chunk of population.

Charbagh station, the busiest station of the state capital has the load of around 287 trains and witnesses the crowd of around 1.25 lakhs daily.

By having second entry point, the load of the passengers would be split and there would be less crowd and the main building.

It will also avoid the traffic jam like situation at the loads leading to the Charbagh Station.
