MAYAWATI TARGETS BJP GOVT FOR ‘DIVIDING GODS’

-

LUCKNOW: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati on Thursday slammed the BJP accusing it of dividing even the gods. Mayawati’s Bahujan Samaj Party claims ideological proximity to Baba Bhimrao Ambedkar, who is revered by dalits. December 6 was Ambedkar’s death anniversary. Mayawati’s BSP held programmes across the state in Ambedkar’s memory but the BSP leader chose the day to target BJP governments in UP and at the centre, accusing them of conspiring to defeat the constitution. She also slammed the BJP for raking up temple issue saying dalits and backwards and other communities would never be able to forgive the BJP for the December 6 demolition of the Babri mosque “because that was essentially a step against the spirit of the constitution”. “These days UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath’s statement of lord Hanuman being dalit has become a matter of debate across the country and some have even suggested that ownership of Hanuman temples should be handed over to the community,” Maya said. Mayawati, who is campaigning in election bound states, is in Delhi these days from where she described as ‘Modi raag’ the BJP’s claim of doubling farmers’ income by 2021.

“One doubts how the farmers who have been hearing ‘Modi raag’ for the last four and half years would be able to last till 2021? That is why we believe it’s time for this government to be voted out of power,” she said in a detailed statement from Delhi. Reacting to Mayawati’s charges, BJP spokesman Harish Chandra Srivastava said, “The opposition is rattled that under PM Modi and CM Yogi Adityanath’s leadership everyone is veering towards the BJP. This includes dalits and others too. Even in Bulandshahr, which we believe was a conspiracy to defame Yogi government, the government quickly controlled things. Everyone realises how a big conspiracy was checked by the government.”
