Lucknow eves in state hockey semi-finals

LUCKNOW: Hosts Lucknow stormed into the semi-finals of the State Women’s Hockey Tournament, Prayagraj 3-0, at the Padma Shri Mohd Shahid Hockey Stadium here on Thursday. Sonal Tewari, Pooja Nishad, Archana and Aksha Mussawar scored a goal each. In other quarterfin­al of the day, Gorakhpur beat Jhansi 7-0.

SELECTED

Three trainees at the government-run Vijayantkh­and Stadium i.e. Ronit Malani, Anshuman Singh and Vansh Yadav have been picked up in the Uttar Pradesh team for the 64th National School Games Under-17 Tennis Championsh­ip, beginning December 7 at Bhuwaneswa­r (Odisha). All three are being trained by NIS coach Vijay Pathak.

FINE VICTORY

Raja Garden Club scored an easy 34-run win over Lucknow Cricket Academy in an A Division League match, at the LDA Stadium here on Thursday. RGC scored 189/6 in 40 overs while batting first after winning the toss. In reply, LCA could make 155 in 37.3 overs. Rishi Yadav and Rohit took three wickets each. In D division, Divyayug Ashram beat New Light Club by 27 runs.

SOFT TENNIS

The 1st State Soft Tennis Championsh­ip begins on Friday, at the Vinay Khand Stadium here. The event would played in as many as six different categories i.e. sub-junior, junior, men and women.

SUBHAM EXCELS

Subham took 5/14 and Shyam Narayan had 3/6 as Life Care Club defeated Machester Cricket Club by nine wickets in a league match of the BB Gupta Memorial Cricket Tournament.

NEW ADMISSION

Admission process at the state government-run three sports colleges would begin in January with initial level trials from January 15 to February 3 at different regional headquarte­rs across the state. Secretary, Sports College Society, Vijay Gupta informed that trials would be conducted in 11 different discipline­s.
