LUCKNOW: Samajwadi Party (SP) national president Akhilesh Yadav on Monday said the proposed poll alliance in Uttar Pradesh will wipe out the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and the Congress too might have a role in it.

Regional parties will have a very important role in dislodging the BJP from power, he said in an interview to a television news channel about which the party’s state spokesperson Rajendra Chaudhary also issued a press release.

Akhilesh said his party would engage in respectable seat-sharing. Highlighting the importance of regional parties in 2019 elections,

AKHILESH SAID HE WOULD ATTEND THE ANTI-BJP RALLY (SCHEDULED TO BE HELD IN KOLKATA) BY TMC CHIEF

Akhilesh said he would attend the anti-BJP rally (scheduled to be held in Kolkata) by Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee on January 19.

Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Telangana CM K Chandrashekar Rao and former Jammu and Kashmir CM Omar Abdullah, are also among those likely to attend it.

Akhilesh said the BJP’s condition was such that some of its stalwarts were already backing out from the polls, leaving the battlefield before the battle.

“The SP had contested elections on development, while BJP had contested the 2017 polls on caste and religion. Despite that, the SP vote share is good,” he said.

On Ram temple, he said while people in the country were sticking to the Supreme Court rulings, the BJP was least bothered about the Constitution.

On UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath, he said: “The chief minister did no other work than changing names of places. He should list what he did for the state and its people.”
