PRESSURE ON REDS, SPURS

With the likes of Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Borussia Dortmund having confirmed their progression to the round of 16, all the attention will be on Group B and C where three of the four spots are yet to be decided. HT takes a look:

-

ALL TO PLAY FOR

Group C is the only one this season where no team has yet made it to the last 16. While Napoli are group leaders, unbeaten so far, but they haven't yet qualified.

They face Liverpool with Juergen Klopp’s men required to beat the Italians 1-0 or with a difference of two goals. PSG, however, need just a point to against Red Star to qualify.

FOCUS ON SALAH

Mohamed Salah hit top gear in Liverpool’s last game, scoring a hat-trick against Bournemouth and the Reds will want him to continue that run against Napoli, who are on a 12-match unbeaten run.

However, they’ll march on to the field with renewed confidence given that they edged past Manchester City to become the new Premier League leaders at the weekend.

STERN TEST FOR SPURS

Tottenham face one of the sternest tests in European football when they take on Barcelona at the Nou Camp. Barcelona are already assured of the top spot but Mauricio Pochettino’s men will progress only if they manage to perform better than Inter Milan, who face PSV. With PSV out of the competition, it remains to be seen whether Inter or Tottenham make the cut.

HOME RUN

However, it won’t be an easy task for Spurs to match up to Barcelona away from home. But they would want to take heart from their efforts last year when they held Real Madrid at home. Barca are unbeaten in 28 CL home matches and Spurs’ morale won’t be boosted by the fact that the Spaniards have lost only twice in 33 home games against English
