‘Lodge FIR against those placing illegal hoardings’

DM tells LMC to also impose a fine of ₹50,000 on offenders

LUCKNOW :Putting up hoardings, posters and banners without permission from the Lucknow Municipal Corporatio­n (LMC) will invite legal action. The district magistrate has directed the civic body to lodge FIR against offenders and also impose a fine of Rs 50,000 on them.

Besides, other department­s have been directed to keep a check on noise pollution and take legal action against those found playing DJ and heavy duty sound systems after 10 pm.

These orders were among the many issued in a meeting headed by district magistrate Kaushal Raj Sharma here on Wednesday.

He directed the LMC to ensure cleanlines­s in areas in its vicinity and take stern action against those found defacing public property. “No banners and posters, which are not meant for advertisem­ent, would

be allowed at public places. Strict action under defacement of public property act and a fine of Rs 50,000 would be imposed on those found flouting norms,” said the district magistrate.

To prevent traffic jams on roads, the civic body was also asked to streamline movement of street/roadside vendors by ensuring ‘pheri neeti’, which strictly defines the selling points for vendors.

During the day, the district magistrate also inspected the recently chalked out airport route for hassle-free movement

of passengers. The route meant for VIPs and people arriving at the airport, starts from the airport, via Transport Nagar, Arjunganj, Katai ka Pul and Bandariya bagh crossing.

He directed the LMC to make the entire stretch free from encroachme­nts and bottleneck­s.

The power department, LDA, UP Housing Board and others were also asked to pitch in for the transforma­tion of the route.

side Shaheed Path while electricit­y department was asked to overhaul the old-rusty electricit­y poles and replace dangling wires/faulty switches with new ones.

A special plan was mooted to decongest the Arjunganj area, which is said to be the most jamprone area on this route.
