HARIDWAR: Mother of Ganga activist Sant Gopal Das, who has been missing for over a week, on Wednesday said she would stage a sit-in agitation for carrying forward the unfinished agenda of her son as well as to garner public attention over his sudden disappearance.

Shankuntala Devi, along with his niece, brother Nitin and other family members, arrived at Matri Sadan ashram and met Swami Shivanand. Devi fears a conspiracy behind the sudden disappearance of her son, after he was forcibly shifted by the administration to AIIMS-Rishikesh, PGI -Chandigarh, AIIMS Delhi and Doon hospital.

“As per AIIMS-Delhi management, Sant Gopal Das was handed over to the Uttarakhand administration on December 4 and they reached Dehradun two days later. Since then he has been missing,” Devi said.

The mother and brother of Gopal Das announced a sit-in agitation at the Triveni Ganga Ghat in Rishikesh within 24 hours if the government provides no clue of his whereabouts.

Swami Shivanand said “Swami Nigmanand and Swami Gyan Swarup Sanand who were forcibly shifted to hospital by the administration mysteriously died during medical treatment”.

Following the death of Professor GD Agarwal also known as Swami Gyan Swaroop Sanand on Oct 11 in AIIMS Rishikesh on 112th day of fast, Gopal Das continued the crusade. On October 13, the district administration shifted him to AIIMS Rishikesh during his 114th day of fast. He was on protest since June 24.

Thereafter, Gopal Das returned to Matri Sadan on October 16. But, he was again shifted to AIIMS Rishikesh on October 17 owing to his deteriorating condition. Later on October 19, he was sent to Chandigarh for better medication. He returned to AIIMS Rishikesh again and sought Ayurvedic treatment. The management referred him to All India Institute of Ayurveda, Sarita Vihar, New Delhi, a day before Diwali in November.
