LUCKNOW:There were 10 patients inside the building. One was being treated on the stretcher by a person who was not qualified enough. This was the scene when the health department team conducted a surprise check at a private hospital in Malihabad following a complaint lodged with the grievance portal of the state government.

The hospital was running on the Mal-Malihabad road and the health department received complaint via the grievance portal that the hospital does not have qualified doctors or medical staff.

On the spot, the team met a person who said he was a doctor and had a degree in homoeopathy.

But when asked to produce the same, he could not show any document to establish he was a doctor. The team locked the hospital

and asked the owners to produce documents related to qualification of staff and licence for running the hospital.

In charge of the Malihabad community health centre Dr Shahid Raja said that if no document is produced, then FIR will be lodged against the owners. In Malihabad, there are several villages where quacks operate. A number of quacks operate in areas such as Datli, Khadta, Mahdoiya and Kasmandi, said locals.

Now, the health department has planned to launch a campaign against such persons.
