LUCKNOW: SSP (Lucknow) Kalanidhi Naithani suspended a traffic police constable for dereliction of duty when he failed to take action against triple riding by a motorcyclist.

The constable, Bharat Singh, was deployed at Mayfair crossing in Hazratganj.

The motorcyclist passed before the SSP while he was taking stock of the traffic situation in the area on Thursday.

“All officials deployed on traffic duty must work pro-actively to manage traffic of the city. I have asked them to ensure utmost vigilance,” said the SSP.

In sync with the ongoing drive to streamline traffic, the officer inspected areas like Sapru Marg and Hazratganj crossing along with other officials.

While the team removed encroachments on the section, two wrongly parked cars were also seized.

“Managing traffic is a combined effort. But we need the support of other departments and locals in improving the traffic situation,” he said.

According to police, the drive to improve traffic will continue throughout December.
