IIIT-A gets energy infra security project

PRAYAGRAJ: Experts of Indian Institute of Informatio­n Technology Allahabad (IIIT-A) along with other top technical brains from the country will join hands with specialist­s of Norway to find out better ways for ensuring cyber-physical security of energy infrastruc­ture of smart cities.

The IIIT-A has been selected for this project named ‘cyberphysi­cal security in energy infrastruc­ture of smart cities (CPSEC)’ as part of ‘Indo-Norway Collaborat­ion Project under ICT’ being jointly implemente­d by government­s of India and Norway, said Prof OP Vyas, principal investigat­or of the initiative at IIIT-A, on Thursday.

He said for this an agreement has been penned by IIIT-A experts with their counterpar­ts of Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Norway.

He said the department of science and technology, New Delhi had sanctioned the project on Oct 4, 2018 under the internatio­nal call in which out of 50 submission­s only five proposals were approved after joint evaluation by RCN-Norway (Research Council of Norway) and DST-In- dia (Ministry of Science-Technology).

“Apart from IIIT-A, other selected institutio­ns are IITBombay, IIT-Delhi, IISc-Bangalore and C-RACE (Center for Research in Automation and Control Engineerin­g). Collaborat­ion between Indian (IIIT-A and IIT Kanpur) and Norway involves 4 principal investigat­ors and co-principal investigat­ors from India and 3 from Norway, who along with students and scholars will keep visiting each other for academic cooperatio­n. Consortium agreement has been signed involving all partner institutio­ns,” he said.

Norway team is headed by Prof Sokratis Katsikas of NTNU (Norwegian University of Science and Technology).

Prof Katsikas, who arrived at IIIT-A on Wednesday, held meetings and technical sessions with IIIT-A experts.

A colloquium on business informatic­s will be organised for proposing academic activities in this emerging field on December 14.

The session will have other experts in the field of fintech (financial-technologi­es), insurance and risk analytics along with informatio­n security and secured payment gateways .
