Cops arrest 2, recover 17 cattle from them

PRAYAGRAJ: The Ghoorpur police seized a truck along with 17 cattle that were being allegedly being smuggled for slaughter near Gohania flyover on the Jasra road on Thursday morning. The cops also arrested two persons present in the truck while one of the them managed to flee.

SP (trans-Yamuna) Dipendra Chaudhary said the truck was seized by a police team led by SO (Ghoorpur) Brijesh Singh and SSI Arbind Kumar Singh, constables Pawan Kumar Naik and Alok Mishra after receiving a tip off. The two arrested persons have been identified as Mohd Afaq of Bharwari, Kaushambi and Mohd Salam of Aurangabad, Bihar. The one who managed to flee the scene was identified as Aneesh, a resident of Muratganj under Kokhrajk police station of Kaushambi, he added. The nabbed persons have been charged under different sections of the IPC after registerin­g an FIR against them, he said.

RTD GOVT EMPLOYEE FOUND DEAD IN HOUSE

A retired government employee was found dead in his hut located near Karchana under the industrial area police in Prayagraj late on Wednesday night. SHO of Industrial area police station inspector Iftekar Ahmad said according to the locals, the victim, Chandrika Prasad, had gone off to sleep on a cot near the gate of his hut.

“His body along with was found covered in blood on Thursday morning by passers-by outside the hut. The skull has also been crushed. Industrial area police arrived at the scene and sent the body for a postmortem examinatio­n. We have registered a case in this regard and begun investigat­ion. The motive of the crime is yet to be ascertaine­d, he added.

MAN DIES IN MISHAP

A man riding a bike died after his two-wheeler collided with a speeding truck near the jail road police outpost under Naini police station of Prayagraj on Thursday morning. The victim, identified as Dashrath Lal of Shahji Ka Purva village.
