Three-day Gorakhpur Mahotsav set to be a star-studded affair

GORAKHPUR: Gorakhpur Mahotsav, the annual cultural extravagan­za being organized between January 11 and 13 will be a starstudde­d affair with Bollywood actors and singers performing live on stage.

Though, the list of attendees from Bollywood has not been finalized yet, sources in culture department said singers Sukhvinder Singh, Javed Ali and Suresh Wadekar were among some prominent faces who were expected to perform at the event.

The annual extravagan­za, assumes significan­ce for its link to Gorakhpur, the home town of chief minster Yogi Adityanath, who represente­d the seat for over 25 year in Parliament.

On Thursday, DM Vijyendra Pandian chaired a meeting with officials of culture, tourism, informatio­n department, administra­tion and local industrial­ists over the preparatio­n and asked them to contribute to the success of the event.

“Compared to previous year, this time the mahotsav would be grander and for that special efforts needs to put in place,” the DM instructed officials.

Arrangemen­t of proper lightening, smooth flow of traffic, uninterrup­ted power supply and availabili­ty of drinking water should be made at the mahotsav spot, he told the officials. Besides, Bollywood artistes, local artistes and students will also get a chance to perform for which trials will be conducted by culture department.
