LUCKNOW : Majority of the saints of Ayodhya have distanced themselves from Ram Vilas Vedanti’s statement in which he has targeted chief minister Yogi Adityanath.

Former BJP MP Vedanti issued a statement on Thursday demanding his removal from the chief minister’s post as he was portrayed as ‘star campaigner’ of the BJP in recently concluded assembly polls in three states where the ruling BJP lost to the Congress.

Distancing itself from Vedanti’s statement, the Ram Janmabhoomi Nyas head Mahant Nritya Gopal Das has termed the former MP’s statement as immature and irrational.

“The Ram Janmabhoomi Nyas has nothing to do with Ram Vilas Vedanti’s statement. How can the UP CM be held accountable for the BJP loss in three states?” questioned Das.Rebuking Vedanti, Das said: “Yogi Adityanath has done a lot for Ayodhya. How many chief ministers have visited Ayodhya before him?” asked the Mahant.

Vedanti must think twice before saying something, he added.

Mahant Suresh Das of the Digambar Akhara has also disapproved Vedanti’s viewpoint.

“It was not expected from Ram Vilas Vedanti to issue such a statement. Such irrational statements also weaken the Ram Mandir movement,” said saints of Digambar Akhara on behalf of Mahant Suresh Das, who was in Nepal on Thursday.
