Uttar Pradesh’s challenge at AITA Championship Series comes to an end; all four lose
LUCKNOW : It was a bad day for hosts Uttar Pradesh players in the AITA Championship Series here on Thursday as all four in fray in different categories fell on crucial hurdles, at the SDS Tennis Centre.
Top seeded Vaibhav Singh Bisht of UP lost to Maharashtra’s Siddhant Bhavnani in the boys under-18 singles semi-final 5-7, 3-6 before Madhya Pradesh’s Pranjal Tewari accounted for other UP boy Daksh Kumar 6-4, 6-3 in other semi-final. Other UP players in the fray, Shambhavi Tiwari and Tanushree Pandey too lost on Thursday.
There was some consolation for UP players in doubles when Vaibha pairing with Pranjal defeated the duo of Arnav and Kanishk 6-2, 6-2 in boys doubles final.
The girls doubles title went to Tanisha and Shambhavi, who defeated Yati and Tanushree also in straight sets 6-1, 6-2.

Azamgarh and SSB stormed into the semi-finals of the men’s and women’s section at the Prithvi Singh Memorial State Handball Championship at Ayodhyay on Thursday. Azamgarh defeated Bareli 25-9, whereas SSB beat Lucknow 20-19 in a thrilling tie.

Aster Public School, Noida defeated DAV School, Amritsar by 100 runs to win the School Premier League here on Thursday. After scoring 230/7 in 20 overs, Noida side got the rivals out for paltry 130.
