Yogi wants Rahul to apologise for Rafale allegations
LUCKNOW:CM Yogi Adityanath on Friday said Congress president Rahul Gandhi should apologise to the people as well as the defence personnel for his allegations on the Rafale fighter aircraft deal.
“Rahul should also reveal the source of his information on the Rafale deal. He made the allegations to weaken the country’s security system at a time when the neighbouring countries were strengthening their military power by purchasing fifth generation aircraft and technology,” Yogi said while addressing a press conference here.
The BJP respected the constitutional institutions, but the Congress government muzzled them, he said. The chief minister said during hearing of the case, the Supreme Court examined all aspects of the deal.
“No irregularity was detected in the purchase of the aircraft. In fact, corruption plagued defence deals during the Congress rule. People are aware of the role of the middlemen Ottavio Quattrocchi in Bofors scandal and James Christian Michel in AgustaWestland scam during the Congress government,” he said.
“The Supreme Court order has exposed the lie spread by Rahul Gandhi. The Congress leader should understand his responsibility in relation to the security of the nation. He made false allegations against the central government in Parliament as well as on the public platforms,” Yogi said.
The CM said the Congress president also raised questions over the integrity of the army, and added that the Supreme Court should not entertain frivolous PILs that make adverse impact on security and development projects.
