UPSRTC bus catches fire, passengers evacuated safely

LUCKNOW : A UP State Road Transport Corporatio­n (UPSRTC) bus headed to Qaiserbagh bus stop erupted in flames near Lohia crossing around 7 pm on Sunday. No passenger was reported to be injured in the incident.

According to fire department officials, the blaze was caused by short circuit near the engine. “The driver noticed the short circuit near engine and stopped the bus on side of the road.

All the passengers were evacuated safely before the bus was engulfed in fire,” said VK Singh, chief fire officer (CFO), Lucknow.

The bus reportedly had around a dozen passengers along with the driver and conductor.

All the seats and inside of the bus were damaged before the fire was put out.

In another incident of fire, a room in a flat in Alambagh was damaged due to fire that was caused by a room heater.

No one was reported to be injured in the fire that was doused by fire officials.
