NSA AGAINST 3 IN B’SHAHR COW SLAUGHTER CASE
MEERUT: The district administration in Bulandshahr invoked National Security Act (NSA) against three persons arrested in connection with the alleged cow slaughtering incident in Syana tehsil last month, said officials.
The trio was allegedly involved in the cow slaughtering incident in Mahav village on the night of December 2, which sparked violence the next day in which inspector Subodh Kumar Singh and a villager Sumit were killed.
The accused Azhar Khan, Nadeem Khan and Mehboob Ali of Syana town were arrested and sent to jail, said officials.
District magistrate of Bulandshahar Anuj Kumar Jha, on the basis of the police report against the accused, announced to invoke NSA against them on Monday.
District administration officials said the act of the accused was a setback to the sentiments of Hindus who live in nearby villages Nayabaans and Mahav.
They further said that the accused were trying to seek bail and they could again get
involved in similar crime after coming out of jail. “This may cause serious threat to law and order, peace and communal harmony in the area. Therefore, it has been decided to book them under NSA,” added the officials.
Afaq Ahmad, advocate of the three accused, said they had been falsely implicated in the cow slaughter case. “I have not received a copy of NSA against them. If it is true, we will challenge the decision,” he added.
