LUCKNOW: Energy minister Srikant Sharma on Monday said the welfare and development schemes launched by the BJP governments at the Centre as well as in the state have left the opposition parties rattled.

Addressing a press conference here he said that the opposition parties are aware that the NDA government at the Centre has gained popularity among the common man.

In UP alone, 3 crore people have benefitted from the welfare schemes launched in the last four-an-a-half years. The BSP and SP leaders know that the people will reject them, so they have joined hands to protect their entity as well as to stop development, he said.

Continuing the attack on the SP-BSP alliance Sharma said the leaders from both the parties are busy promoting dynasty and raising illegal money.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s attack on corruption has created fear among the leaders of opposition parties. They have joined hands to protect each other, he said.

“When the investigation agencies tightened the grip around the leaders indulging in corruption, they launched a counter-offensive against the central government. The people know that the ‘chowkidar’ is clean and agile. The people will give a befitting reply to the alliance,” he said.

Highlighting the schemes launched by the BJP government Sharma said earlier, UP was covered in darkness and roads were full of potholes but now there is regular power supply in both urban and rural areas.

The target of saubhagya scheme to provide power connection to the poor has been achieved.

The investment in the state has also increased due to the initiative of the government, he said.
