Neetu to lead UP girls in U-19 one-day tourney
LUCKNOW: Keeper-batswoman Neetu Gaur would be leading the 17-member Uttar Pradesh team in the Under-19 Women’s oneday league, commencing from February 10 at Assam. Anjali Singh has been named her deputy.
Other members in the team included, Muskan Malik, Shobha Devi, Shipra Giri, Ayushi Srivastava, Rekha, Falak Naaz, Kashish Singh, Rishika Yadav, Sonam, Juhi Pandey, Pratibha Bharti, Vidisha Kar, Archana Devi, Sudha Shukla and Meenu Yadav.
Uttar Pradesh would begin their campaign with a match against Andhra Pradesh at Jorhat on February 11. This will be followed by the matches against Maharashtra on February 12, vs Kerala on February 15, vs Delhi on February 17, vs Himachal on February 21, vs Karnataka on February 23, vs Rajasthan on February 27 and vs hosts Assam on March 1.
U-19 CRICKET FINAL
Former champions and last year’s semi-finalists Uttar Pradesh would be taking on hosts Vidarbha in the Under-19 Cooch Behar Trophy final, starting Monday, at the VCA Stadium in Nagpur. Uttar Pradesh defeated Rajasthan by an innings and 57 runs in their semi-final match at Jaipur, whereas Vidarbha emerged victorious against Madhya Pradesh in the second semifinal on the basis of the first innings lead.
RAVISH EXCELS
Lucknow’s Ravish Ahmed Qureshi bagged silver medal in the 75 kg category at the Junior Mr India Body Building Championship at Meerut. Bilal Rao of Saharanpur finished top.
SCHOOL TAEKWONDO
An Inter-School Taekwondo Championship under the aegis of Lucknow District Taekwondo Association and Acceleria School will be held on Saturday and Sunday here. Over 2500 exponents in sub-junior, cadet, junior, senior categories are expected to participate.
