Two deputy SPs suspended
DSP IN KUSHINAGAR DISTRICT AND DSP DEOBAND IN SAHARANPUR HAVE BEEN SUSPENDED
LUCKNOW: The state government on Sunday suspended Ram Krishan Tiwari, deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Tamkuhriaj in Kushinagar district and Siddharth, deputy superintendent of police, Deoband in Saharanpur on charge of dereliction in duty that led to death of a large number of people in hooch tragedy in both the districts.
In a press release, principal secretary, home, Arvind Kumar said Tiwari was posted in Tamkuhiraj circle since October 1, 2017. Eight people died after consuming illicit liquor in the villages located in Taryasujan police station area of the district. Some people are still undergoing treatment in the hospital.
After the hooch tragedy, SP (North), Kushinagar was directed to probe the matter and submit report. In his report, the SP stated that due to irresponsibility and slackness of Tiwari, illicit liquor racket flourished in the area. No measures were taken by him to check the manufacture, transportation and sale of illicit liquor. Tiwari would be attached to the DGP office, he said.
DSP, Deoband, Siddharth had also failed to take effective measures to check the manufacture and sale of the illicit liquor in villages located on UP- Uttarakhand border. He failed to control the smuggling of illicit liquor as well. Siddharth has been also attached to DGP office.
