‘Sanction prosecution against guilty pradhans’

LUCKNOW: The state government has directed district magistrates to sanction prosecution against all the village pradhans/ deputy village pradhans who have been found guilty of misconduct as public servants during vigilance or other inquires. A circular sent by secretary, panchayati raj, Mahendra Kumar a few days ago in this regard tells DMs to arrange initiation of court proceedings against guilty village chiefs. “This has been brought to the government’s notice that the DMs are not able to take a call on sanction for prosecution,” the circular says. The circular has quoted a number of provisions to drive the point home that DMs could sanction prosecution.
