Akhilesh flays BJP govt after Palekar heckled
LUCKNOW: Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav attacked the BJP government over the Mumbai incident in which veteran actor-director Amol Palekar was repeatedly interrupted and stopped from delivering his speech while he was attempting to criticise the government.
In a tweet, the Samajwadi Party chief said: “Why does the BJP want to police people’s thoughts and opinions and control what they eat, wear, say and do? They want to make India monochrome and colourless. Telling Mr Palekar to stop speaking shows the nervousness of the govt”.
Amol Palekar was repeatedly interrupted allegedly by some members of the National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA) in Mumbai on Friday evening while he was speaking at the opening of an exhibition, Inside The Empty Box, in honour of renowned artist Prabhakar Barwe.
