Govt will not compromise on national security: Naqvi

-

LUCKNOW: Terming the terror attack on a CRPF convoy in Pulwama (J&K) as ‘devilish’, union minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Sunday claimed that the Narendra Modi government’s crackdown had broken the back of terrorism.

Addressing media persons as part of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) mega public outreach ‘Bharat ke Mann ki Baat, Modi ke Saath’ programme, Naqvi said: “Pulwama terror attack is definitely a devilish act and those behind it would be brought to book. There will be no compromise on terror and national security.”

He then went on to recall how Modi had broken the back of terror.

“The fact is that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has broken the back of terrorists. Please remember how in the past there was at least one terror activity every 15-30 days at some place or the other across the country. Now, it is limited to certain parts of Kashmir,” Naqvi added.

When asked if the Centre was planning some drastic step in retaliation to the Pulwama attack, he said: “Wait and watch. India will give a befitting reply to Pakistan.” When asked if “the big reply against Pulwama” could even mean deferring general elections in national interest, he said elections and war against terror were two separate issues.

On BJP’s commitment on Article 370, Uniform Civil Code and Ram temple in Ayodhya, all three of which remain unfulfilled, Naqvi said, “Our party primarily came to power on the promise of good governance and waging a war against corruption.”
