Woman missing from Delhi found in Muz’nagar

MUZAFFARNA­GAR: In a bizarre incident, a 28-year-old married woman, who went missing with her three children from New Delhi last week, was found in Jasoi village here. The woman Rakhi alias Rekha claimed that she was Shahzadi, daughter of Mahboob of Jasoi and at the age of eight years, she had somehow got separated from her family. One Shahzad of Jasoi village under Titwai police station also claimed that the woman was his missing sister.

According to police sources, about a week ago, Rakhi alias Rekha, wife of Rajkumar of Najafgarh in New Delhi suddenly disappeare­d from her house with her three children. Rajkumar filed a police complaint about his wife and kids’ disappeara­nce. On Friday evening, some activists of Hindu organisati­ons came to know about the presence of the woman in Jasoi and they informed the Titawai police. The cops brought the woman and her three children to Titawai police station.

Rakhi alias Rekha alias Shahzadi informed the police that at the age of eight years, she had somehow got separated from her family but now she had found her parents Mahboob and Rukhsana in Jasoi village, so she wanted to live with them. She also said she wanted to leave her husband as he allegedly tortured her.

On Sunday, police summoned Rajkumar and Rakhi’s foster parents Ramkumar and his wife Bimlesh from Jahangeerp­uri area of New Delhi.

Bimlesh told the cops that about 20 years ago they found eight-year -old Pinki( now Rekha alias Shahzadi) at Baraut railway station and despite having five children they brought her up as their own child. About 12 years ago, she was married to Rajkumar of Najafgarh area and after marriage she had changed her name to Rekha. Bimlesh said that Rekha (Pinki) had never told them about Jasoi village of Muzaffarna­gar or her parents’ name.

When Rekha alias Shahzadi was asked how she came to know about Jasoi, she said she remembered the name. She also said a cloth vendor had told her how to reach the village. Shahzad of Jasoi village said that she had visited them in the winter and recognised her maternal uncle and maternal grandmothe­r. After hearing her tale , they sent her back to her husband’s house. Besides this, he had no other proof that Rakhi alias Rekha was his sister. The woman’s husband Rajkumar said during his married life , he never came to know about Shahzad and his family in Jasoi village of Muzaffarna­gar.

SP City Satpal Antil said that they had contacted the Delhi police where Rajkumar had filed his complaint and the final action would be taken by them. Till then Rekha alias Rakhi alias Shahzadi had been sent to the Nari Niketan in Saharanpur.
