PRAYAGRAJ : The UP State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) has decided to run the Pink Express, an all-women bus service, on the Prayagraj-Gorakhpur and Prayagraj-Kanpur routes, an official of the corporation said.

The Pink Express is currently plying on different routes of the state, including Lucknow-Prayagraj. The service aims to provide a safe journey to women passengers.

TKS Bisen, regional manager of UPSRTC, said, “The Charbagh depot at Lucknow operates six of these buses on the Lucknow-Allahabad (Prayagraj) route. We plan to introduce such buses from our depot here at Allahabad (Prayagraj).”

These air-conditioned buses are equipped with vehicle tracking system, which monitors every aspect of the vehicle’s movement, including overspeeding, sudden halts and on-board misbehaviour.

The UPSRTC headquarters is also considering the idea of installing closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras in all the buses being operated in the state.

“The idea is being considered by our headquarters. If implemented, CCTVs would be installed in all the 610 buses operated by us in eight depots of the region,” the UPSRTC regional manager said.

All the buses, irrespective of their category or fare structure, would be equipped with a firstaid box, he added.

In addition, the corporation’s Civil Lines depot here would operate at least three such buses on the Prayagraj-Lucknow route.

The authorities are also working on a plan to provide a fixed slot for these buses at the Civil Lines bus stand.

A digital board would be installed for detailed information about the schedule of these buses at the depot.

ALL THE BUSES, IRRESPECTIVE OF THEIR CATEGORY OR FARE STRUCTURE, WOULD BE EQUIPPED WITH A FIRST-AID BOX
