Cop gets foot massage from elderly man inside police station

GORAKHPUR : A video showing a sub-inspector getting foot massage from the elderly father of an absconding accused inside a police station in Kushinagar has been doing the rounds on social media since Friday following which an enquiry has been ordered and the cop attached to lines, police said.

“An enquiry headed by circle officer of Tamkuhiraj area has been ordered against the S-I,” said SP Vinod Kumar Mishra.

The latest video comes a day after another video of a youth being brutally kicked and punched by two policemen in front of his ailing nephew in Siddharthnagar had gone viral. The youth was beaten reportedly after he failed to show papers of his bike during a checking drive. Both the cops were suspended and sent to lines.

In the Kushinagar case, the 12-second video shot by a local journalist shows S-I Arun Chaubey posted at Vishnupura village police station resting on a cot in a vest and lungi and getting his foot massaged by 65-year-old Bachcha Khatik.

Bachcha Khatik was picked up and brought to the police station 20-days ago after the cops failed to arrest his son Dharmendra Khatik who was booked for eloping with a local girl last month.

It is alleged that Chaubey forced the elderly man to clean his shoes, massage his feet and cut vegetables ever since he was brought to the police station.

Police sources said Dharmendra had fallen in love with a girl of his village. As he and the girl belonged to different caste and feared rejection of their relationship by their families, they decided to elope and get married. An FIR was lodged against the accused at Vishnupura police station last month.
