Start-up incubator in Lucknow to promote new ventures: Dy CM

LUCKNOW :Deputy chief minister Dinesh Sharma on Saturday, announced that one of the country’s biggest start-up incubator will set up shop in the state capital.

Sharma made the announceme­nt at the start-up conclave organised by the Lucknow Management Associatio­n (LMA) along with the department of IT and Electronic­s, state government. Addressing the gathering, Sharma said: “There are around 4,750 start-ups in the country. Gradually, India is becoming the third largest start-up hub in the world.” On the rapidly changing industrial scenario in the state, Sharma said: “Of every 100 mobile phones manufactur­ed in the country, around 60-65 are being manufactur­ed in Uttar Pradesh.”

He also announced a start-up incubator in Lucknow. “One of the country’s biggest start-up incubators will be set up in Lucknow. It will help youths in their start-ups and create new jobs,” Sharma announced. Elaboratin­g on the state government’s upcoming 2019 start-up policy, the deputy chief minister said: “The state government has decided to set up a corpus of Rs 1000 crore to promote start-ups.”

He added that Uttar Pradesh start-ups will play a major role in fulfilling PM Narendra Modi’s resolve of making India a five trillion-dollar economy by 2024. Sharma also claimed that in the next five years, start-ups in the state will help create five lakh jobs. The IT sector will also have a big role to play in the upcoming start-ups in the state, asserted Sharma. Sharma also said: “Earlier, Indian students were looked down upon in the US. But the scenario has changed today. Now, even the US government fears that Indian students in their country might take up jobs of Americans.” The deputy CM also apprised the gathering about investment­s in the state following the investors’ summit in February 2018 and two ground-breaking ceremonies. Sharma also asserted that startups would be biggest job creators and advised youths not to run after government jobs. Alok Sinha, additional chief secretary, IT and Electronic­s, delivered the vote of thanks. The deputy CM presented awards to the winners. LMA members were present on the occasion.
