District athletics meet from Sept 27

LUCKNOW : The two-day 17th District Athletics Championship for under-14/16 boys/girls will take place on September 27-28, at the KD Singh ‘Babu’ Stadium here at 8.00 a.m. District Athletics Association’s secretary, BR Varun informed that six events in the under-14 category and 10 events in the under-16 category would be conducted. The event aims to pick Lucknow team for the 17th National Inter-District Championship, scheduled to be held from November 24 to 26 at Tirupati in Vishakhapatnam.

POWER CORPS TENNIS

As many as 12 teams from all parts of the country would be seen in action in the 43rd All-India Power Corporation Tennis Championship, scheduled to be held from September 25 to 28, at the Oudh Gymkhana Club here. Besides hosts UP Power Sector, teams from Punjab, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Telengana, Gujarat, Rajasthan and Andhra Pradesh Transco etc. are expected to participate. DA Tilak, AK Singh, Ashish Sinha and Alok Bhatnagar would be representing hosts in the four-day championship, states organizing secretary, Imranul Haq.

BOXING MEET

Avinash, Siva, Ashok, Saurabh and Prince made it to the finals on the first day of the district level junior boy boxing competition to mark the centenary year celebration of Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay, at the KD Singh ‘Babu’ Stadium here. Avinash beat Hrithik, Shiva beat Dinesh, Ashok Kumar beat Fahin, Saurabh beat Akash and Prince defeated Vipin Kumar.
